Customers

How customer records, statuses, and departments work in Calypso.

What you can do on Customers

In Customers, you can:

  • add customers (manually or via CSV)
  • search by name or phone
  • filter by status (subscribed, unsubscribed, bounced)
  • open a customer detail view
  • delete customers (single or bulk)

Status meanings

  • subscribed: the customer can receive outbound messages (where allowed by your channel rules)
  • unsubscribed: the customer has opted out; you should not send outbound marketing messages
  • bounced: messages cannot be delivered (invalid number or delivery failure)

Departments

Departments are a lightweight way to group customers and route conversations.

You can assign a customer to a department:

  • from the Customers detail modal
  • from the WhatsApp → Actions “send manually” panel (when a customer is found by phone)
If a phone doesn’t exist as a customer yet, the Actions panel can create a minimal customer record and assign a department.
